This is a shot from my recent Venice workshop that I like a lot because of the symmetry and graphic design. It's interesting that I've been photographing in this palace for at least eight years and never noticed this particular composition. It was important that I positioned myself such that the model, Myriam Melham, was perfectly centered on the middle window behind her. I used the highlights and shadows sliders in Adobe Camera Raw to extend the dynamic range to prevent the windows from blowing out and the shadows from becoming too dark with no appreciable detail. Only available light was used for this image -- a combination of tungsten bulbs and daylight coming in through large windows at the far end of the huge room. I shot this with a 16-35mm lens set to the 24mm mark, and the settings were 1/320, f/4, 3200 ISO.
