I am in Morocco now with another photo tour group, and my favorite destination here is the city of Chefchaouen, or the 'Blue City.' Shades of cobalt blue and turquoise are painted on the houses, stone stairways, streets, and pretty much everything else within easy reach. It's visual overload. This is the entrance of the hotel I'm using now, and the magenta bougainvillea contrasted perfectly with the blue architecture. I took my group out early, just after dawn, so the streets would be empty and there would be no people to interfere with our shots. My settings for this picture were 1/50, f/2.8, and 400 ISO. I used a 16-35mm lens. The lighting at this time of morning was soft and diffused which is the ideal for both flowers and architecture. As soon as the sun rose, the contrast became extreme, and although HDR was the best solution, it just didn't produce images as good as diffused light.
