I love photographing in fog, and when this kind of atmospheric condition is present at twilight, the result is magical. This is a shot of the small church on an island situated in the middle of Lake Bled in Slovenia. It is one of the places I take groups in my Balkans photo tour, and while the church is beautiful from many different vantage points and at all times of the day, at twilight it is especially dramatic. I used a 100-400mm lens for this shot, and my settings were 3.2 seconds, f/5.0, and 200 ISO. I usually use daylight white balance when shooting at twilight because that makes the golden tones of the artificial lights contrast nicely with the moody blue ambient daylight. In this kind of murky light, meters are unreliable. It's necessary to study the LCD monitor on the back of the camera and tweak the exposure accordingly by using the exposure compensation feature.

Bob Vestal - Definitely agree with Carlton and Martin. Mysterious is another word to describe the scene.

Carlton Mceachern - Just wonderful. Ethereal and somehow spiritual.
