Ultra wide angle lenses allow you to capture amazing perspectives. I shot this carnival model in Venice, Italy during my annual Venice, Italy workshop in February. I used a 14mm lens to purposely distort the perspective. I was actually lying on the ground looking up. The extreme wide angle provided extensive depth of field, although in retrospect I should have also used a small lens aperture. I used f/5.6, but had I used f/16 the immediate foreground, which was only inches from my lens, would have been sharp. Nevertheless, it's the perspective here that I like. The lighting was diffused late afternoon sunlight.
