This was a very unique situation. There is a facility in Namibia that rescues predators mostly from farmers who would kill them because they prey on livestock. The rescue facility, called Na'ankuse, owns 65,000 acres, and the rescued animals live in the bush as they would in nature. But, they are still captive. I photographed this leopard as I lay on the ground, below eye level, and shot upward with a 24-105mm lens. The cat was sitting right next to the photographer-friendly electrified fence (meaning there were large openings in the wire mesh). Actually, there were two leopards there -- brothers -- and they were always snarling at each other. That's how I got this shot. I was probably 24 to 30 inches from those teeth! I was told that a week before my visit, one of the workers lost a finger to this leopard. So, I was on edge as I took this picture. My settings were 1/1250, f/16, and 1000 ISO.
