The great cathedral in Ely, England is the third largest in the country, and it's quite impressive. It took 100 years to build the cathedral starting in 1083. This is a 10-frame vertical panorama of a portion of the massive interior. To do a vertical pano, I hold the camera horizontally and overlap the frames by about 50% to give the software enough information to align the segments perfectly. I start at either end of the cavernous room, and when I reach the portion of the ceiling directly overhead, I turn 180 degrees and continue down the other side. Photoshop magically assembles the various frames into a striking, graphic image. There is distortion, of course, but the net effect is pretty compelling. My settings were 1/100, f/1.8, and 1250 ISO. I used a Sigma 14mm wide angle lens for the shots.
