One of my favorite landscape shots is this rare picture of Monument Valley in a snowstorm. I was living in Los Angeles at the time, before the Internet, and I called the weather service in Kayenta, Arizona during January every two days to find out if a cold weather front might be moving in. Finally, snow was predicted, and I drove 15 hours overnight to get there. I arrived at 6am, and I was the only one. No other tire tracks in the snow could be seen. I shot this with film -- my Mamiya RZ 67 and Fujichrome Velvia 50. I used a 50mm wide angle (comparable to a 24mm lens), and I judged the exposure with a handheld Sekonic L-358 meter. Shooting transparencies, and not being able to see the images until the film was developed back home, meant there was no room for error in exposure. If the slides weren't perfect, they couldn't be tweaked in any way. No one had ever heard of 'post-processing'.
