This is a top-down view of the ruins of 12th century Melrose Abbey in Scotland. I hovered the drone over the main entrance and, because it was about 11am in the morning and the direct sun created significant contrast, I shot with a 5-frame HDR sequence with a one f/stop increment between images. Drones today are so stable that all five frames can be composited into a single image with sharp results. Doing this makes the shadows have good detail and, at the same time, the highlights are well exposed. The settings were 1/3200, f/1.8, and 110 ISO. I took this shot from an altitude of 187 feet.

James R Steadman - Great drone shots on the Abbeys - both of them. Love the lighting.
