I think American tourists that travel to Europe don't think about photographing nature. We are too focused on quaint villages, castles, cathedrals, and the like. But Europe does have breathtaking landscapes as well as other nature subjects to photograph. This photo shows one of the classic views in Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. The park has hundreds of stunning waterfalls. I took this picture from a precarious vantage point -- the easy vantage was very good, but I felt this one was better. I wanted to make sure I had enough depth of field so the foreground trees were as sharp as the background. With landscapes, the last thing you want are out of focus foregrounds. My settings for this were .6 seconds, f/22, 100 ISO, and I used a 24mm focal length on a tripod, of course.

Bob Vestal - Such a beautiful landscape. Makes us want to go to Croatia! The 6 sec exposure gives a great result in this location.
