This is an orange-backed troupial I was lucky enough to capture in the Pantanal region of Brazil. My camera settings were programmed for shooting flowers as I wasn't expecting to photograph birds in flight, thus my shutter speed was too slow at 1/640. As a result, the bird wasn't tack sharp. In post-processing, I applied Topaz Sharpen AI two times in an attempt to make the bird acceptably sharp to my eye. It might look overly sharpened, but in the end I prefer this to a slightly blurred image. I used a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto in conjunction with a 1.4x teleconverter, giving me 700mm of focal length. The aperture was f/5.6, and the ISO 2000. My next Pantanal trip is this coming December.
