Another boat trip I took in Scotland was to the Farne Islands. I photographed this grey seal from a boat with a 500mm focal length, so I'm sure you can imagine the movement I was dealing with. The greater the magnification of the lens, any kind of movement is greatly magnified. To insure sharp pictures, I used a super fast shutter speed. My settings were 1/3200, f/7.1, and 800 ISO. Scotland has had a string of days with unbelievably beautiful weather, but that has meant blue skies and harsh light. I was greatful for the diffused light when a few clouds provided the ideal diffused light I prefer.
