There is a lot to be said for simplicity. Engaging composition comes down to graphic design, and the essence of graphic design is beautiful lines. Whether you 're photographing trees, architecture, nudes, dancers, and even birds and wildlife, the success of the image is reduced to beautiful lines. I photographed this home in The Cribbies, a lovely area in Tors Cove in Newfoundland, Canada. The residents made great use of the colors red an white in adorning all the buildings. I replaced the sky, and I think that added to the appeal. My settings were 1/320, f/22, and 500 ISO, and I used a 24mm focal length on a 24-105mm lens.
