The thing that makes Tuscany so appealing to photographers is the graphic design of the hillsides, the medieval farmhouses, and the beautifully planted rows of cypress trees. When you combine these graphic elements with sunrise or sunset lighting, the mix is magical. Even though this region of Italy has been endlessly photographed by so many other photographers—both amateur and professional – I never let that hinder my enthusiasm. If it’s beautiful, I want to photograph it. This farmhouse has a driveway about a quarter mile in length that’s lined with cypress tree, and it’s great to shoot especially at sunrise. My settings were 1/250, f/5.6, and 1250 ISO.
