The National Carriage Museum in Lisbon, Portugal showcases 17th and 18th century horse-drawn carriages of the royalty and of wealthy merchants. I love shooting in this wonderful facility, but the background behind the carriages is problematic. Therefore, I selected a carriage that was positioned so I could get a straight-on side view of it, and then, using the pen tool in Photoshop, I meticulously created a selection around it. That took about 45 minutes working at 400%. I made separate selections of the windows. Since the carriage was illuminated by artificial lights in the museum, I had to choose a background that was also lit artificially. The background you see here is a night shot in the village of Lindau adjacent to Lake Constance in Germany.
