It's unusual to get this close to a large wild animal, but at 14,000 feet at the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado -- in the parking lot -- mountain goats hang out and pose for photographers. I took this with a 24-105mm lens, and even though in early July the goats are shedding their winter coats, they still make great wildlife subjects. The paved road to the top makes access easy to get to, and you can photograph babies as well as adults at surprisingly close range. I was about 7 or 8 feet away from this guy. My settings for this portrait were 1/640, f/16, and 200 ISO, and the actual focal length was 73mm.
