This is the spectacular St. Mary's Basilica in Krakow, Poland. Blue ceilings in cathedrals are unusual, and I find them to be particularly beautiful. No tripods were allowed, and I took this when I was still shooting the Canon 5D Mark II in 2010. That meant I didn't want to raise the ISO too high to minimize noise. So, I rested the camera on the floor and used the 2-second self-time in the camera to enable the use of a slow shutter. It took a few attempts to orient the camera perfectly; it was important to align the long lines of the cathedral with the edges of the frame. Obviously I couldn't look through the viewfinder because it wasn't an articulating design. I used a 14mm wide angle lens, so I had to make sure I wasn't included in the shot. My settings were 1/5, f/2.8, and 400 ISO. This is a single shot, not an HDR composite.
