This is a rare albino long-tailed macaque. I have a small collection of albino animals -- I'm always on the search for more -- and I found this one in a zoo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As you would expect from a zoo, the display was problematic for photographers. The primate was in a cage with wire mesh in front of and behind the animal, and the background was, to say the least, less than ideal. In addition, the perch on which the macaque was resting wasn't natural. So, with extensive Photoshop work, I eliminated the wire mesh, replaced the background, and substituted a natural looking perch for the original wooden platform. To select the macaque, I used Topaz Mask AI. My settings for the original photograph were not recorded because this was taken in 2002 with my medium format film camera, the Mamiya RZ 67. I know I used Fujichrome Provia 100 for the shot, though, because that's the film I always used for wildlife. The 6x7cm transparency was scanned by an Imacon scanner.
