This is the stretch of road in Northern Ireland called Dark Hedges. It's beautiful in different types of light -- diffused, sunrise, sunset, and fog -- but this shot was done at night. I illuminated the tunnel of trees with the headlights of the car, thus my white balance setting was tungsten. This shot was an experiment, and as I think about it I should have posted this on Halloween night because it's pretty spooky. I used a focal length of 125mm on a 70-200mm telephoto. In this kind of shot, the entire length of the road had to be in focus. Landscape photography, virtually without exception, requires complete depth of field. That's why I used an aperture of f/18, and that in turn forced a long exposure time of 30 seconds. Fortunately late at night there was no traffic. My ISO setting was 500.
