One of my favorite shots of wildlife is this family of bears at Katmai in Alaska. This female was the most aggressive hunter at the river because she had four mouths to feed. Males much larger let her have the prime fishing spot. The cubs were constantly in motion, looking all around, exploring, and investigating. I waited for four days for all of the bears to look in one direction, and it happened only once. At that moment, mom caught a fish. Given the limitations of my medium format film camera, it was amazing I was able to capture this. The original was a vertical composition. I used to shoot a lot of verticals because in stock photography, they tended to make more money (covers, full page ads, etc.) I cropped it here because artistically I prefer the horizontal framing. My settings were 1/400, f/8, and I used Fujichrome Provia 100. My lens was a 250mm Mamiya RZ telephoto, and I used a tripod.
