Years ago when stock photography was still a viable way to make a good living, concept images were in constant demand and they sold very well. By ‘concept’ I mean images that were perfect in every way and that represented a particular travel destination, idea, or culture. As we all know, so many factors go into making a perfect picture, and serendipity only goes so far. Finding or arranging a great model in an iconic location, the weather, the sky, and background elements usually don’t all align to create flawless images that graphically communicates a concept. So, I put the elements together in less time than it would have taken to set up such a shot, and with virtually no expenditure of money, to end up with perfection. Such was the case with this composite from Bali, Indonesia. Using Photoshop, I composited a Hindu temple, the Balinese dancer, and the sky to convey an iconic scene from this exotic Asian island.
