I photographed these beautiful kudu in South Africa. Their impressive horns are nothing but gentle S curves, and to capture three together like this all in focus was a special find. The original sky was bland, so I replaced it in Photoshop. Notice that I made it out of focus. That was necessary because the grass and bushes behind the animals are blurred, and it wouldn't have made optical sense to have a sharply defined sky. I used a 420mm focal length to capture this, and the settings were 1/800, f/8, and 4000 ISO. I took this after sunset and the light was low. It was the close proximity of the three heads and the near-parallelism of the animals' bodies to the plane of the digital sensor that enabled me to hold focus on the trio.
