This is Kaindy Lake in the Tian Shan Mountains of Kazakhstan. I was captivated by the color of the water as well as the forest of dead trees rising out of the depths. The lake was formed following an earthquake in 1911 that caused a major landslide, effectively creating a natural dam. Over time, rainwater filled the valley and created the lake. To me, this image looks like a painting. I used a 170mm focal length on the Canon 100-400mm telephoto, and my settings were 1/200, f/14, and 1600 ISO.
