Adding texture to an image is easy. It's done with the blend modes in Photoshop. First, you copy the texture image to the clipboard (Select > all and then Edit > copy) and then paste it on top of the background shot (using Edit > paste) In the layers palette, scroll through the blend modes to find the one that looks the best. Usually that will be overlay, linear dodge, or multiply. I photographed this model in Venice during my annual photo workshop there during Carnival. It's a dazzling event with the most remarkable costumes and masks, and the Medieval environment makes for stunning backgrounds. Here, I shot from a low angle with just the sky in the background for a clean portrait look.
