I have flown over the incredible Namib Desert of Namibia twice. I actually hate flying, especially in small planes, but I do it for the photography which, in this country, is incredible. In this part of the Skeleton Coast, it hasn't rained since 1942! With the door removed, I had an unobstructed view. I was scared to death, but the pictures were simply breathtaking. When shooting from a plane, depth of field is irrelevant. What is relevant, though, is having a fast enough shutter speed to insure sharp pictures due to the vibration from the engine and the movement of the plane. My settings were 1/1600, f/4.0, and 200 ISO. I took this picture with a 70-200mm set to 70mm. The late afternoon sunlight created the beautiful shadows on the dunes. My next photo tour to Namibia is scheduled for May, 2021.
