I took this shot of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from a helicopter in 1993. I paid extra to have the door taken off so I had an unobstructed view, but I was petrified every second. Helicopters don't even have wings! I used the fastest shutter speed on my Mamiay RZ 67 film camera, which was 1/400th of a second, to make sure I was taking sharp images despite the vibration of the aircraft. I used Fujihrome Velvia at the time which was 50 ISO. Remember back then you had no idea if your images were good or not until they were developed back home. When you're paying USD $900/hour flight time, you'd better know how to expose properly.
