Sunrise in the Tianzi Mountains in China is a spectacular sight especially when there are low clouds and fog. Because of the high wind, the clouds were blowing across the sun constantly, and the scene was changing every second. The light was amazing, and the graphic shapes of the quartz sandstone formations were beautiful from every vantage point. The exposure was very tricky. At times, the sun was unobscured and very bright; seconds later the sun was largely blocked by the low clouds. I checked the LCD screen on the back of the camera to monitor the exposures, and I used the exposure compensation feature to tweak the images to my liking. My settings were 1/40, f/22, and 640 ISO, and I used a 24-105mm lens for the shot.
