There are so many impala in East and South Africa that after you've taken a few shots of them, you hardly give them a second glance. But once in a while something happens -- a moment, perhaps -- and it's worthy of hefting a long lens up to your eye to shoot. This interaction between two impala was endearing, but it lasted for not more than a second or two. After beautiful sunrise lighting, I always hope for clouds to provide diffused light like you see here. Not only can you never go wrong with soft lighting, but an overcast sky extends the number of hours you can be shooting. If the sun is out, after eight o'clock in the morning you can still shoot, but the light is really too harsh for optimal results. My settings here were 1/800, f/10, and 640 ISO. I used a 100-400mm Canon zoom for the shot.
