Because of the worldwide lockdown, I’m not traveling right now. This gives me a lot of time to revisit images in my photo library and to be creative with them. The background you see here is from ‘The Blue City’, or Chefchaouen, in Morocco. In a country with many photographic highlights, this city for me is the most exciting to see and photograph. The cobalt blue color is an amazing backdrop for models, and in this instance I photographed a young woman in a colorful outfit in another city. I thought the color contrast with the blue would be amazing, so I composited her into the street scene. The person in black was captured in the original shot of the street. Because I used a wide angle lens (16-35mm) for the street and a medium telephoto focal length for the model, I used Edit > transform > distort on the model to create a slight keystone effect on her to imply I’d photographed her with the same wide angle lens and in this position in the picture. My settings for the street shot were 1/20, f/11, and 200 ISO. My next Morocco photo tour is in June, 2021.
