The main thing I looked for when I photographed the junk cars at Old Car City near Atlanta was strong lines and bold angles. As in most types of photography, it's the graphic design of the subject and/or environment that makes a strong visual statement. Combined with a wide angle lens and the pictures can't help but be compelling. In this case, I used the 11-24mm lens from Canon set to the widest focal length -- 11mm. The closer you get to the subject, the more the subject appears distorted. Notice the tree growing out of the bed of the red pickup truck. I thought that was pretty cool.

PS : Have you seen the photographer's winter gloves from freehands.com ? Just saw the presentation on Shutterbug's Feb. issue. Looks handy ( pun intended... )
