Foxes are incredibly fast. They have so much energy and they never stopping running all over the place exploring their environment. These little arctic foxes were no exception. I was hoping for a few moments when they would come together and interact so I could get a shot with both of them in the frame. With patience, it happened but only for a split second. Even at 20 frames per second, I only got two frames that worked. My favorite color scheme in nature is white on white. I used no exposure compensation, even though the orthodoxy most photo instructors teach is to overexpose by at least one f/stop (and usually more) to compensate for the underexposure due to the meter's response to snow. Instead, I let my images go a bit dark to protect the subtle highlights from becoming overexposed. This has worked for me since 2005 when I bought my first digital camera. My settings were 1/1250, f/18, and the auto ISO setting gave me 2500. I eliminated a slight bluish cast due to the overcast sky in Photoshop by desaturating 'blue' in the hue/saturation dialog box.
