A favorite setup I do in Venice every year is to have a harp delivered to a 16th century palace, and then a costumed model poses as if she's playing. It's a stunning scene. The lighting is entirely available light from large windows and wall sconces. I could have used a tripod, but with the ability to mitigate noise with Neat Image software, and with the way my Canon 1Dx Mark II handles noise so well, I feel comfortable with using higher ISO settings. That allows me to shoot quickly without being burdened by a tripod. I had six different models in the palace for my photo tour group to photograph (thanks to my friend Robin Yong), and to help everyone with their settings plus get a few pictures myself, I had to be fast. I used a 16-35mm lens for this shot set to 16mm, and my settings were 1/160, f/4, 5000 ISO.

Jim - Thanks, Richard. The models don't charge here in Venice. They want the photos. The place cost $1100 for two hours.
