I am conducting my second of three tours that are back to back to back. It is, Southern Nature, and it encompasses swamps, landscapes, gardens, and flowers.. This is the shot I was looking forward to taking and sharing with my group -- it is in the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. However, the problem we faced was that the azalea blooms were unusually early this year. They started blooming in February, and now they are way past prime. In fact, there are only a few bushes left with flowers. Under these beautiful, arching live oak trees there were no flowers at all. So, not to be undone by reality, I photographed as many azalea bushes as I could and then selected the best ones to use for this composite.I cloned flowers into this scene from three other photos. Fortunately, we had a day of overcast light because this is ideal for flowers, trees, and most landscapes. This composite isn't perfect -- I see some small flaws -- but it's the best I could do using a track pad on my laptop. At home, my Wacom tablet would allow more accuracy.
