My wife thinks the Abandoned in Georgia photo tour is dumb because, she says, who wants to photograph old junk. Well, the tour keeps selling out because apparently a lot of people like photographing interesting, historic, compelling, and very cool junk. I took this shot in Old Car City in White, Georgia. It's a car from the late 1930's, I believe, with a tree growing out of it. The man who owns this property, who is now 85 years old, has been collecting since he was 12. He started with 30 cars his father gave him, and they've been here for about 70 years. It's an intriguing exercise in composition, lighting, graphic design, color, and exposure. We also did a night session in which we painted with light. In this shot, the sun was shining in the late afternoon so I had to clone out a few unwanted shadows from trees directly behind me. My settings were 1/1250, f/6.3, 640.
