I took this shot in the stunning badlands just outside of La Paz, Bolivia. The elevation was 13,000 feet, and I was shooting the Mamiya RZ 67 medium format film camera at the time. My 50mm lens was equivalent to approximately a 24mm wide angle lens in the modern full frame digital format. I shot this with Fujichrome Velvia 50 which produced the most saturated color slides, and I always used a tripod for landscape work so I could get maximum depth of field using f/32. Back then, after your film was developed and your images were over- or underexposed, there was nothing that could be done to correct the problem. There was no such thing as 'post-processing.' Therefore, you really had to understand exposure. To that end, I used a hand held incident meter that consistently provided perfect exposures.
