I have only been close enough to a bateleur eagle one time in Kenya to take a frame-filling portrait like this. They are striking birds. My safari vehicle stopped right below the perch being used by the eagle, and I used the Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto to fill the frame. Typical of a telephoto lens, especially when used so close to the subject, the background sky was completely out of focus. Therefore, I replaced it with storm clouds that I thought dramatized this composition. To do this, I used the new sky replacement feature in Photoshop: Edit > sky replacement. My settings were 1/800, f/7.1, and 200 ISO. I hoped to capture a flight shot, but the eagle took off and flew away from me.
