This is an outdoor portrait I took of an elderly woman in Nepal. I thought she had an especially attractive and compelling face. The diffused light was ideal. She was sitting in front of the wooden wall of a building, and there were dark and clearly defined junctures between a door and the wall. Any time there are clearly delineated graphic lines behind a subject, they will most certainly be distracting if those lines are not part of the subject itself. Therefore, I cloned them out and darkened the building so all of the attention rests on this woman's face. My settings were 1/250, f/8, and 800 ISO. I used a 100-400mm lens set to 300mm for this shot. In most instances, I prefer a medium telephoto for portraits.
