When you have a dramatic sky, consider composing the picture such that the subject -- a landscape, architecture, or even an outdoor portrait -- is placed at the bottom of the frame and the sky takes up most of the composition. It's a dramatic treatment. Often a wide angle lens is correct for a shot like this, but in some cases a telephoto lens can be used depending on the distance of the subject to the camera. Here I photographed Bled Castle in Slovenia with a 24-105mm lens set to the telephoto end of the lens. That worked because I was a fair distance away, and even with the medium telephoto focal length I could still include enough sky to show drama.
