Silhouettes of birds in flight combine two fundamental elements that make photographs visually dynamic: great lighting and strong graphic shapes. Since the wings of birds move so quickly, you need to shoot them with a high frame rate in the camera to insure you capture the wings in an attractive position. For this picture, I used the Canon 7D Mark II at 10 frames per second. In addition, my shutter speed was fast -- 1/1250 to make sure there wasn't any blur in the movement. I used a 100-400mm lens at f/11 and 400 ISO.
