Blue eyes in the animal kingdom are quite compelling, and this little mountain lion cub melted the hearts of everyone in my photo workshop. When photographing subjects on a snow field, I usually use a center cluster of 9 focus points to lock onto the subject. This is predicated, however, on keeping the subject in the middle of the frame. I also use AI servo, or continuous tracking, which does a very good job with cats (AI servo doesn't track fast flying birds especially when they are coming toward you). For the exposure, I used zero compensation because the middle toned cub was centrally composed and meters take most of their information from the center of the frame. My settings were 1/1600, f/11, and 1600 ISO.
