A classic picture associated with the Sahara Desert is a camel train. In fact, there is a sign at the edge of the distant that reads, "From this point to Timbuktu is 52 days by camel." I set up this shot for my photography tour group, and I had the camel train circle us so we could capture the scene with front lighting, side lighting, and backlighting in which the subjects were silhouetted. Here, I wanted to show the immense expanse of sand in the distance. I shot this with a 145mm focal length on a 100-500mm telephoto, and my settings were 1/640 (to make sure the movement was rendered sharply), f/18 (so both the camels and the distance dunes were sharp, and 2500 ISO. The sky was bland and uninteresting, so I replaced it with sunset clouds for drama using the sky replacement filter in Photoshop with a sky from my files.
