This is the Hallerbos National Forest in Belgium. Every year the bluebell flowers bloom and carpet the floor of the forest. This year it was especially good. In order to increase the appearance of density, a telephoto lens is best because of it's ability to compress elements in a scene. I used a 105mm focal length here. That means, though, that depth of field is reduced because of the combination of a long lens in close proximity to the flowers. I took this shot at f/22 to hold as much DOF as possible. Focus stacking is possible only if there is absolutely no wind. The overcast sky was ideal; flowers photographed in sunlight seem too garish due to the strong contrast created by direct sunlight.
