This outrageous architectural design is the entrance of a metro station in Brussels, Belgium. The contrast was pretty extreme, so I used a 7-frame HDR sequence to reveal all of the detail in both the highlights and the shadows. It is handheld, and I shot this with a 16-35mm wide angle. When doing a handheld HDR composite, you have to make sure the ISO is high enough so the slowest shutter speed isn't too slow to blur the subject. Extreme wide angle lenses like 16mm, 14mm, 15mm fisheyes, etc., can handle shutter speeds as low as 1/25th of a second as long as you brace yourself with a wide stance, hold your breath, use Image Stabilization, and squeeze the shutter gently. In this instance, the ISO I chose was 6400, and the slowest shutter in the sequence was 1/25th. My aperture was f/8.
