This is the view of Chicago from the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower. No tripods are allowed, and to see the best views of the city you have to look through (and photograph through) windows that are oblique to the cityscape. Shooting through glass doesn’t appreciably affect image quality if the lens axis is perpendicular to the glass. However, if the glass is angled to the lens axis, image quality does suffer. I took this shot with a 24mm focal length, and my settings were 1/13, f/5.0, and 12,800 ISO. I pressed against the window frame and the glass (that gave me two points of stability) for support and to steady the camera. I processed the image in DXO Pure Raw 2, and then tweaked the color and contrast in Adobe Camera Raw. In Photoshop, I then used Topaz DeNoise AI to eliminate the noise (which it did incredibly well -- there is zero noise in this image now) followed by Topaz Sharpen AI. With all of this amazing software, it’s remarkable how well we can present our images.
