This is a 1904 Oldsmobile that I photographed at one of the Concourse d'elegance cars shows held throughout the year in the U.S. Because these shows are packed with cars and people, I had to replace the background to isolate the Olds and to make the photograph look as classy as the car. I used a shot from Keukenhof Gardens in Holland for this particular composite. The only way to make a precise selection around the vehicle, including within the steering wheel, was to use the pen tool. The car was already on grass, so that made it a lot easier to deal with. I had to make sure I used similar focal lengths for both images or else the perspective wouldn't look right. Also, note that both the car and the background were photographed in diffused light.

Jim - Thanks very much, Maria.
Rosemary -- Yes, I can check the metadata and see what lens I used. Free transform can also be used in some, but not all, situations.

Maria - Love it Jim! What a perfect place for the car. I am glad you did not have to use the pen tool for the wheels...

Rosemary Sheel - Yes. The car looks as if it had been parked there. What I'm thinking about is that you used "similar focal lengths to get the proper perspective". How did you do that? Just check the metadata on possible backgrounds? Could you use Free Transform instead to get it to look right? That is what I have done in the past...not for cars, but transplanting people.
