Happy Thanksgiving! This is an image from my classic car collection. It is a 1910 Mitchell Model S Touring. I photographed it on grass at a Concourse d'Elegance classic car show in Illinois, and then I added the background which is Spis Castle in Slovakia. I also added the stormy clouds. In order for this to look real, I had to make ultra precise selections -- using the laborious pen tool in Photoshop -- in between all the struts holding up the roof and connecting the front windshield to the forward running boards of the car. I made 34 separate selections working at 400 percent! This took me about an hour. It is the ability to make perfect selections that makes composites look believable. You also have to match the lighting, so if the car was photographed in diffused light from an overcast sky, the background has to have been taken in similar conditions.
