Complete depth of field

I took this shot of a female snowy owl during my workshop in Canada last week. More and more, I like complete depth of field with wildlife and birds even though I'm shooting with a telephoto lens which, as we all know, inherently has shallow depth of field. I photographed the stand of trees in sharp focus specifically to use behind a flight shot. In a sense, this composite almost doesn't look real because we are so used to seeing telephoto shots of birds with backgrounds that are completely out of focus. The irony is that this is what the scene looked like when I saw it with my eyes only. I selected the bird with the magic wand tool: I first selected the blue sky and then used Select > inverse to grab just the owl. My settings for the bird were 1/3200, f/11, and 3200 ISO. I used Neat Image software to eliminate the noise.
