This is the first time in 3 days I've had an Internet signal strong enough to post an image. I set up this model shoot in a stunning hotel in Fes, Morocco. At a fabric store, I selected the clothes for the young women, and then I chose the location — a colorful niche in the lobby area of my hotel. Many of the traditional decor motifs in this country are an unexpected combination of intricate and complex patterns and colors, and it’s visually compelling. So, I took advantage of the hotel’s decor to make a bold statement of design and color. It was not only very dark in the niche, but the color temperature of the lighting was extremely reddish. Had I simply used tungsten white balance (I.e. incandescent or ‘indoors’), the color balance of the image would have been quite yellow. Therefore, I told the people in my photo tour group to choose the Kelvin temperature setting in their cameras and to select 2500K. That made the colors correct. My settings were 1/60, f/4.0, and 8000 ISO. I used a 24-105mm lens to take the shot.
