This is a Bornean pit viper I captured in the wild in Kalimantan, the Indonesia portion of Borneo. I'm very nervous about photographing venomous snakes in the wild for obvious reasons, so I use a long lens to keep my distance. It was very dark in the jungle, hence the need for an ISO setting of 10,000. To mitigate the noise, I processed the RAW file in DXO software followed by further tweaking (essentially burning and dodging) in Adobe Camera Raw. I then ran the image through Topaz DeNoise, and this totally eliminated the noise altogether. I took the picture with a shutter speed of 1/100 and an aperture of f/5.6 with a focal length of 400mm.
