In the Online Photoshop Training Course I teach now, I am always looking for artistic ways to use the tools in this amazing program to expand the vision of the students who participate. Knowing the tools and commands in Photoshop is one thing; knowing how to use them to produce compelling images is another. The various ways to combine images allow you to create any kind of reality imaginable. Here, I combined a fractal (from a fractal generating program) with a portrait of a model. I used the blend mode 'multiply' plus a layer mask to imply the young lady's face had been painted. I brushed away the colorful abstract from her eyes and lips and then changed her red lips to purple to match the 'face paint'. This is another example of a photograph that had been in my photo library for a few years, and by revisiting it I created something that hadn't occurred to me at the time of shooting. The settings for the portrait were 1/100, f/10, and 400 ISO, and I used a 24-105mm lens.
