Low perspectives make all the difference in the world. On my last photo tour to Africa, I was able to bring my group to a sunken blind such that we were sitting comfortably in a chair at ground level. The one-way glass protected us from being seen by the animals visiting the very small water pond to drink. We had to be one hundred percent quiet, and we wore very dark clothing so we were undetectable from the outside. I took this shot with a 24mm lens, and I estimated the distance from the elephant's feet to my shooting position to be about 10 feet! It was a little frightening but mostly exhilarating. We lost about one f/stop of light due to the mirrored glass which is why the ISO was so high. My settings were 1/160, f/7.1, and 6400 ISO. The original sky was white so I replaced it with the kind of cloudy sky I really wanted.
